Jean Dinh Van is a French-Vietnamese designer who was born near Paris and attended Les Beaux Arts de Paris to learn to create fine jewelry. He refined his vision, perfected his technique, and “fell in love with metal” during his decade-long association with Cartier. To this day, vintage “Dinh Van for Cartier” items fetch high prices at Christie’s and other auction houses.
In the early 1960s, he left Cartier to focus on his own ideas of contemporary luxury and beauty filtered through the lens of fashion and culture. He took a real interest in everything happening in his time, such as the off-the-peg creations by Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin and Knoll furniture. His goal was to create beautiful jewelry that women could wear every day.
Today, Dinh Van is well known in Europe for his modern, minimalist timeless designs. Place Vendome Jewelers carries a large selection of Dinh Van pieces and can secure any in-stock piece from Paris in a few days.
